The Roar – Managing Editor

 

Lead Australia’s leading sports opinion website.

 

Conversant Media is looking for an exceptional Managing Editor with proven strategic vision and endless energy to drive editorial, social and video initiatives and manage an extensive team of writers and editors on Australia’s leading sports opinion website, The Roar (theroar.com.au). The position is based in Surry Hills, Sydney.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a senior role at an innovative digital publishing company. We think it’s the best job going in Australian sports media at the moment, and we’re looking for someone outstanding to join our team. To succeed, you MUST be passionate about digital media and sport, be bright and full of ideas and very detail oriented.

 

The Roar’s hybrid content model of expert opinion alongside fan-written articles is unique in the Australian sporting landscape and requires strong editorial oversight to ensure a high standard across all published content is maintained.

 

You should have around five years editing experience, and preferably experience in a leadership role in a digital environment. You should have a demonstrable interest in Australian sports and be passionate about what you do.

 

Key tasks include:

    • Manage a team of writers, sub-editors and interns to create premium sports opinion content daily.
    • Set and control editorial budgets.
    • Drive editorial strategy, partnerships, SEO, and social media to facilitate consistent growth in the Australian market.
    • Work with our commercial team to generate ideas for briefs, then see those ideas through to completion.
    • Further develop and launch new Roar initiatives within eSports, Facebook Live streaming, and Club Roar’s user generated video project.
    • Assist with content direction and strategy for The Roar’s video platform, The Roar TV.
    • Manage and grow the largest community of sports fans in Australia.
    • Drive The Roar’s internship program.
    • Work with the wider APN News & Media assets to powerfully build The Roar’s brand via marketing and cross promotion initiatives.
    • In short – take The Roar to the next level within the Australian media landscape.

Digital Commercial Manager

 

Conversant Media is a leading digital media organisation. We publish three online publications – Lost At E Minor (eminor.com), a global culture site with 2.5 million unique browsers each month, The Roar (theroar.com.au), Australia’s largest sports opinion website, and Techly (techly.com.au), an Australian lifestyle tech publication.

 

We won the Small Publisher of the Year at the annual Mumbrella Publish Awards 2016.

 

We’re looking for someone with experience in the digital media space who wants to join our Commercial team based in Surry Hills, Sydney.

 

You will work within our commercial team to develop outstanding advertising campaigns for industry leading brands. You will be detail oriented, bright, and have a strong proven ability to connect and establish relationships with people.

 

Our business is growing strongly and we are at the forefront of media in Australia. We have three content verticals, a leading video offering, and a group of smart and passionate people.

 

For this role, we’re looking for someone with 2-5 years of direct media experience. Someone who is capable and experienced in working with media agencies to understand their client’s requirements and respond with creative and compelling media activations across our channels.

 

You must be passionate about digital and, ideally, our sites.

 

Your primary function will be to interface with media agencies and work collaboratively with internal departments, such as Design, Editorial and Implementation.

 

You should have high ambitions for where you want your career to go.

 

We’re looking for a Permanent Resident of Australia, but if you are working in Sydney in media sales already then we can consider sponsorship. Graduate – Digital Commercial Executive

 

We’re looking for someone ready to dive into a great career and join our Commercial team based in Surry Hills, Sydney.

 

You will work alongside our commercial team an within all aspects of our online advertising business. You will be detail oriented, bright, and have a strong ability to connect and establish relationships with people.

 

This role spreads across a variety of areas within our business and is a great way to gain an holistic understanding of what the digital advertising industry is all about.

 

Your primary function will be to interface with media agencies and work collaboratively with internal departments, such as Design, Editorial and Implementation.

 

We want smart people so it’s likely you’ll have a degree but it doesn’t have to be one in communications or advertising, just tell us why you want to work in this field!

Digital Marketing Intern

 

The role will require you to work proactively to amplify the world-class content Conversant Media publishes across our websites, The Roar (theroar.com.au), Lost At E Minor (eminor.com) and Techly (techly.com.au).

 

You will work closely with the editorial and implementation team to drive marketing strategies that will have real impacts across the business.

 

Tasks include:

 

      • Assist in driving high-performance standards for social media campaigns
      • Tracking and optimising across all social and content amplification platforms
      • Reporting key data that provides deep insights and actionable learnings
      • Liaising with our implementation team to forecast and deliver campaign requirements
      • Driving the use of new social media marketing and amplification tools

 

This is a paid Intern role best suited to someone currently studying for a related degree in Sydney.
